The Summer Academy of Subotica (Serbia), a program of professional development for minority Hungarian teachers, was held for the 18th time between the 11th and 15th August 2014. The New Public Education, a journal of the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development, had the opportunity to introduce itself to potential new readers.
In his presentation, Dániel INDRI, editor’s assistant of the New Public Education, explained that the magazine is published by the HIERD since 2013, with the content being assembled by the HIERD and the editorial board. Its main area of interest are primarily primary and secondary education, but is also includes some articles on early childhood education and higher education. The target audience is teachers, and in order to reach them, all public schools in Hungary receive one copy of the journal for free. The aim of the publication is to give accurate information for teachers about all actualities concerning education. New Public Education can be downloaded from the website of the HIERD (http://www.ofi.hu/publications-printed-pubs-periodicals) and from the autumn of 2014, it will share a separate “periodicals website” together with the other three journals of the HIERD.
