Androulla Vassiliou launches Erasmus+ in Budapest

Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, launched the Erasmus+ programme on the 12th of March 2014 in Budapest, on the opening conference organized by Tempus Public Foundation and the National Institute of Family and Social Policy. The conference was opened by Mr. Zoltán Balog, Minister of Human Resources. A welcome note was given by Péter Tordai, Director of Tempus Public Foundation, and Gergely Máté, deputy director of the Youth in Action Programme Office of the National Institute of Family and Social Policy.

Education Technology Exhibition in London (BETT Show)

The four days of BETT were organized for the thirtieth time this year, in London, from the 21st of January until the 25th. BETT is the leading exhibition in the whole world in the field of education technology. Its aim is to exhibit innovations in information technology and digital devices that can be used in education.

Hungarian talent support from an American point – interview with Chester Evans Finn Junior

Chester Evans Finn Junior is an American educational policy analyst and expert. He is a Doctor of Education from Harvard, he was professor of education at Vanderbilt University, and he was assistant secretary of education during the Reagan administration. In the last few months of 2013, as part of a study trip over continents to examine talent support programmes and methods, he had also visited Hungary. His book about what he had learnt is coming out in early 2015. Until then, English posts are available online about his experiences on the website of Education Next at (—what-i-saw-what-i’m-learning/) and While at the Hungarian Institute of Educational Research and Development, Mr. Finn had a meeting with Szabina Cziráki, deputy director of the National Talent Development Centre and Márta Szvathné Szalay, deputy director general of the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development for professional support.

Extended Schools – Interview with Chris Gabrieli

At the beginning of the summer vacation, the Hungarian Institute of Educational Research and Development had the privilege to host Mr. Chris Gabrieli, leading educational reformer and a strong advocate for expanded time schools in the United States. Mr. Gabrieli, who is of Hungarian background, was in Budapest on vacation, and took his time to give a talk about longer schedules and its effects in the US, and then answered all of our questions.
