Three colleagues of the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development – Ambrus DOBSZAY, director of the Centre for Curriculum Development and Methodology, György JAKAB, academic associate and Andrea ALEXANDROV, pedagogical development associate – have held a professional program between the 8th and 11th of May 2014 in Cluj-Napoca, Szamosújvár and Válaszút (Romania).
During the program, they have visited the dormitory in Válaszút (Răscruci), created of for students living in Romanian areas with a scarce Hungarian minority population, which is maintained by the Kallós Zoltán Foundation, as well as the dormitory of the TÉKA Cultural Centre in Szamosújvár (Gherla). They gave information about the professional work of our Institute, and gave a collection of some of the Institutes’ publications to fellow Transylvanian colleagues. They have conducted a workshop talk with teachers from the Hungarian schools of the Mezőség area, about the local situation of education and possibilities for cooperation. They have participated at the meeting of the „civil workshop” of Mezőség, where they offered some professional advice on the planned developments of local Hungarian vocational education. They visited the Talentum Reformed School of Cluj-Napoca, where they have conducted a similar consultation. They have participated at the final of the history competition organised for Hungarian secondary school students living in Romania, which was held in Cluj-Napoca, at the Babeş-Bolyai University. Once again, they donated publications of the Institute and Hungarian textbooks. Similarly, they have consulted with representatives of the university about possibilities for professional cooperation. As a result of this professional visit, very important actors of Hungarian education beyond our borders received professional support for their work, and on the other hand, they articulated further needs, which our Institute aims to address as fully as its resources make it possible. As an expert on media education, Mr. Jakab also discussed possibilities for cooperation in this area.
