Colleagues of our Institute Katalin NÉDER and Réka KÖNCZEY participated at the final conference of CoDeS in Barcelona, between the 21st and 23rd of May 2014, which centred around the topic of Designing a Sustainable Future through School Community Collaboration.
Their poster was done in collaboration with colleagues Erika Saly and Attila Varga, and presented the results of a survey and dataset analysis about basic patterns of school community learning in Hungary, with a special focus on ecoschools. This title refers to some 700 schools in Hungary which meet specific criteria related to sustainability. Findings showed that shortcomings in Hungarian environmental education could be addressed during teacher training, and that ecoschool – community relations are strong (more than half of the newly developed modules involve the local community in their pedagogical program) however no pattern could be depicted about smaller schools having stronger links to the local community. The poster is available on the CoDeS website: as well as on HIERD website, attachments can be downloaded from here.
