Researcher-analyst Dóra SCHNELLBACH-SIKÓ of the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development participated at the bi-annual meeting of the European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education in Oslo, between the 20th and 22nd May 2014.

The program involved planning the work of the Agency for the next year, initiating projects and reporting on ongoing projects. This was completed with the presentation of the Norwegian professional advisory system, with a focus on inclusive education of disabled children. The plan for the year 2014 is for each member state to present posters on their systems, so that a draft of common special needs terminology can be put together by the end of the year. During the meeting, Ms. Sikó-Schnellbach presented the concept of extended schools in the Hungarian education system, as a tool of inclusion, and learned about a Swiss innovatory diagnostic tool and related pedagogical system which has been introduced (it is currently in the pilot phase) and does not assess the child’s condition in order to draft an individual development plan for them, but rather the child’s situation.
