Our colleague Anna IMRE represented the HIERD at the 1st meeting of the ET2020 working group on schools policy on the 20th and 21st February 2014, in Brussels.

This working group mainly continues the work of a former working group on early school leaving, which stood from December 2011 till the end of 2013. However, the topic of early school leaving is now complemented with that of teacher training. The plan for this working group is to operate till October 2015. This first meeting began with a summary of the work done previously, and the results which were achieved so far. The goal for the new period is to support effective learning. This is done by supporting schools in their efforts to prevent early school leaving through a whole school approach and by elaborating a framework of guidelines for prevention and intervention in schools. The working group for teacher training will target quality of teacher education. By the end of the mandate, country-specific propositions will be drafted. Until then, peer reviews will be conducted, the first in March, in Athens, where Hungary will be examined. Representatives of the Ministry of Human Resources (Sándor Brassói and Anikó Orbán) will be present.
