Junior research analyst Orsolya Ágnes KURUCZ spent a week in Vilnius between the 6th and 12th April 2014 to examine early school leaving and prevention measures taken, and identify potential best practices.
During the visit, Ms. Kurucz made focus group and individual interviews with education researchers, experts of the Ministry of Education and Science and of its background institutes and also with schools leaders. The discussions revolved around early school leaving, vocational training and career guidance. The visit was part of a project to write country studies about early school leaving, for the broader objective of elaborating a signaling system in Hungary, which would register events which, in case of a lack of intervention, lead to dropping out.
