This year’s conference was held between the 7th and 9th October in Hajdúszoboszló, with the title Organisational and Operational Changes in Public Education. The Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development was a cooperating partner of the organisers, and several speakers represented our Institute.
In a phasing-out system, textbook development and publishing has become a role of the state in Hungary. The Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development plays a major part in developing new, so called pilot textbooks, which are currently being used in grades 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 and 10.
The second European Code Week will be held between the 11th and 17th October 2014. The aim of the event is to make coding more visible, demystify these skills, and bring motivated people together to learn.
The Professional Start-of-Term Conference was held on the 26th, 27th and 28th August 2014, in three big Hungarian cities (Budapest, Miskolc and Pécs), with the same program. The event was a joint organisation of the HIERD, the Ministry of Human Capacities, the Educational Authority, the Educatio Kht. and the National Teachers Chamber.
The Summer Academy of Subotica (Serbia), a program of professional development for minority Hungarian teachers, was held for the 18th time between the 11th and 15th August 2014. The New Public Education, a journal of the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development, had the opportunity to introduce itself to potential new readers.
From September, teachers will begin to teach from the pilot textbooks developed in the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development (upon mandate given by the Ministry of Human Resources) in more than a 1500 schools.
